Interior Designer Linda Holmes Shares Her Favourite Projects

Having worked as an interior designer for over 30-years, Linda Holmes has waved her magic on some pretty impressive projects.

Having spent her career designing high-end residential and commercial projects across the world, Linda Holmes is the Interiors Director at LuxDeco where she is also the creative behind their eponymous collections of furniture and accessories.

Working both the UK and internationally, Linda has worked on top-secret projects around the world that she is keeping her lips sealed on. However, her notable projects we do know about include an 18,000-square-foot private luxury-apartment development, a large ski chalet in Val Thorens and an exclusive residential development and country club in Marbella. Here, Linda shares more about her style and three of her favourite projects.

Linda's Style

A lover of Art Deco, Linda appreciates clean lines, beautiful craftsmanship and timeless design – three tenets she applies to all of her work.

As an original LuxDeco team member, she has been central in the development of LuxDeco Studio – the brand's growing interior design service.

Linda continues to successfully lead and mentor the interior design team, passing on to them her invaluable expertise.

Four of Linda’s Favourite Projects

1. Knightsbridge Townhouse

“This project holds a very special place in my memory,” Linda reveals.“The building was a striking Grade II listed home that had all the grand features–the classic Georgian facade, intricate cornicing, floor-to-ceiling sash doors and quintessential wall panelling. We were responsible for designing and coordinating the full refurbishment that saw the team and I commission custom joinery and full furniture, fixture and equipment. We used a transitional design scheme of bronze metals, silken textures, refined drapery, crystal lighting, and high-gloss finishes to maximise the elegance of the existing building.”

2. Regents Park Apartment

“The team and I designed everything for this project covering space planning, full kitchen and bathroom fits, bespoke cabinetry, wallpapers and colour schemes, furniture and fittings,” Linda says.

“The client was located abroad at the time of commission, so it involved a lot of long distance video calls – and this was before it became the norm during the pandemic! One element I'm most proud of is how carefully we planned the space to make the most of its square footage. The key was the use of thoughtful zoning using considered furniture and by creating custom cabinetry to utilise the apartments vertical space.”

3. Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai

“This was a wonderful project we completed during the pandemic last year,” Linda explains.“We were briefed to design a comfortable, modern home for a growing family that had traditional British style whilst complimenting the sunny climes and the villa's contemporary architecture. I thought how this was executed, withclean-lined modern furniture and a neutral palette on ground and upper levels and a traditional style with button-tufted leather ottomans, wood panelling and a handsome pool table, was a beautiful interpretation of the client's desired aesthetic.”

4. One Tower Bridge, London

“I fell completely in love with this apartment as soon as I entered it. It had exquisite views across the River Thames overlooking Tower Bridge,” Linda says. “Our client purchased the apartment with the sole intention to release it onto the rental market. Living overseas meant that much of our design conversations were predominantly done over the phone or email. While we went to and from the property to take measurements and get a feel for the natural light and temperature of each room, we met with our client only once. This was to deliver our first presentation and invite feedback on what they wanted to edit or develop further. From here, our amends moved quickly and the client was happy to not meet a second time, signing everything off within just two weeks.”
